When it comes to our kitchen, we all want ours to be different to anything anyone else has, but sometimes it can be hard to really personalise it to make it your own without help.

In this article I intend to give you 3 tips which will make your kitchen your own, and customise it to really set it apart and make people take notice.

Pick a colour theme and stick to it

The colour theme in your kitchen is something that sets the tone and mood for everything, but people think this has to revolve around the worktops you choose and the colour of your drawers, it really doesn’t.

You can set a colour theme after all of your basic kitchen has been chosen and the way to do this is by adding a colour theme to the little things in your kitchen that you are choosing to add. Things such as the clock or the tea towels can help set the tone, or even coloured accessories.

Ideas like these will start to set a theme to your kitchen, for example if your kitchen is a dark colour, a volcanic orange theme can work well.  Allocating your clock and tea towels with a specific colour can work very well; along with these continue your colour theme with things such as the table mats and candles to add a nice homely touch.

These things really do customise your home, and you can do it with just about anything in your kitchen; the colour of pots, the style of pots, the colour of oven gloves etc. Don’t be afraid to be imaginative to inject that bit of colour.

The design element of this means you have a customised kitchen, allowing you to do whatever you want, plus you don’t have to spend big on things such as your worktops, drawers or fridge – you can create your own style with the smaller items for much less.

 Changing your kitchens design through photography and pictures

This next design idea can fit in with the theme of your kitchen, however it can also set the theme of your kitchen.

The modern kitchen is the room we spend more hours in than any in our home, so you want it to be right.  A great idea is to create one particular wall with lots of family photos and this is a way of designing your kitchen and giving it a lovely homely feel towards it.

But it doesn’t even have to go as far as the pictures or photographs on the walls, in fact you can customise your kitchen just from the photo frames themselves. By adding some abstract shaped photo frames to your walls, or even certain coloured frames you can add to the theme and mood of your room.

For example adding a peculiar shaped frame with bright colours to different walls, can on its own make your kitchen feel brighter, this is one of if not the most money saving way to customise and edit the design of your kitchen.

The plants you choose alter the mood

Plants are a great way to alter and customise your kitchen, as adding plenty of colours to your kitchen can be a wonderful touch – as well improving the air in the room.

Not only the plants can customise your kitchen but simple touches like coloured plant pots can as well. For example you could choose a particular coloured plant pot in order to stick to the colour theme of your kitchen.  However if you need to add some colour then picking a bright bunch of flowers can work just as well – as long as you care for them – if not a great looking artificial plant could be a good idea.

These 3 simple design ideas can be a great way to customise your kitchen, they are all cost effective ways in which you can change the mood, theme and tone as well – instead of having to spend thousands of pounds on revamping your kitchen I you can simply look at these cheaper options to bring it back to life.
