Benchtops: engineered and stone benchtops are in, stainless steel, concrete and timber are out.

Door types: Two-pac polyurethane or colour-painted doors and by low-pressure laminate doors are in roller-shutter doors, natural timber doors and timber-veneer doors are out.

Splashbacks: Glass and engineered-stone splashbacks are in. Granite and tiled splashbacks are out.

Appliances: LCD/plasma TVs, double-door fridges with icemakers, wine cooler/fridges and European freestanding stoves are in.

Tap ware: Budget tapware and insinkerators are out.

Sinks: Under-mount sinks and water filtration systems are in. Solid-surface sinks, round-bowl sinks and single-bowl sinks are out.

Great news about the Kitchen industry in Australia, where economist Dr Dale for the Melbourne Leader said “We are forecasting growth of nearly 11 per cent in the total value of kitchen installations over the 2010-11/2011-12 period”
