Home office furniture sales soarUKPA – 1 day ago  Sales of office desks and chairs have soared in recent months, suggesting that a growing number of people are planning to work from home during the Olympic Games, according to a new report.

Retail giant John Lewis said sales so far this year were up by 14% compared with 12 months ago, adding that customers were clearly getting their houses ready for home-working during the summer.

Demand for office furniture has been highest in the South East, especially London and commuter areas close to the capital, where workers will be affected by the increased number of visitors using public transport this summer.

Sally Hudson, of John Lewis, said: “Weve seen more and more of our customers getting their homes ready for home-working – either for the Olympics, or longer term.

“Despite the advent of laptop computers and Wi-Fi, most of us still require a designated work station in order to work from home productively.”

This is no surprise as people living in and around the London area will potentially be waiting hours for journeys to and from work, which is really not practical.

Ensure your home office is up to date and also somewhere in which you can relax, changing little things such as table legs can make your home office feel new again. You want to be able to spend hours in this room with working from home being the only option for many in the London area.

It is great to hear that people working from home are making sure that they still work in a professional environment equipped with office furniture. I think the biggest mistake that people who work from home commit is allowing themselves to feel too comfortable in a homey working-in-pyjamas kind of way.

Well for office work one need a environment which makes us feel professional and I don’t think so that home is the right place for this..Only furniture doesn’t make office, people and files should also be there..
